The Sihanoukville Autonomous Port has changed the storage time for containers
Phnom Penh (MGO) - The Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS) has decided to extend the storage time for export containers at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port by up to one week, which will be implemented next month. According to the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port's statement, this decision is in line with the spirit of the August 30th, 2021 discussion between the Ministry of Agriculture and the representative of the shipping agency.
Mr. Thai Rithy, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, signed the notification in order to help trade facilitation in the sector of transportation and logistics in the suppose of assisting in doing business and trade in Sihanoukville Autonomous Port. Hence, the storage duration of container exports from ideally 5 days free charge to 7 days from the time the container arrives at the destination until the ship departs.
If the aforementioned deadline is not met by the eighth day, the storage shall be charged, and the consecutive increase is based on the number of storage days. The revised container storage period will be implemented from October 1st, 2021.
