The National Road No. 5 has inspected and handover by HE Touch Chan Kosal
Phnom Penh (MGO) – HE Touch Chan Kosal inspect and hand-over a section of National Road 5 (Battambang-Sirisophaon).On September 22-23, HE Touch Chan Kosal, the Secretary of State of Ministry Public work and Transport and chair of the delegation led the ministry technical team inspect and hand-over the section of National Road No.5 from Battambang to Sirisophoan of the rehabilitation project to improve the Section of National Road No.5.
During the handover ceremony, which has attended by the Governor of Provincial Board of Governor, the Representative of JICA to Cambodia, the Department of Public Work and Transport, construction company and Technical officers in all relevant departments as well the Rehabilitation project of the section of National Road No.5, there are 366 km long which has across Kandal Province, kampong Chnnang, Puesat, Battambang, and Banteay Meanchey province.
The project is under concessional financing from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Cambodia and plans to spend about $ 500 million. The construction divided into three major parts North South and Middle of which including the extend the section of the National Road from 2 lanes to 4 lanes, 23 m width and 304 km long, replaced with AC rubber and has a central garden.
Separately for the section of National Road No. 5 from Battambang to Seri Sophorn of the project to upgrade at the North side of the National Road No. 5 that be inspected and handed over, the construction started from Battambang province to Serei Sophorn city with a total length of 84.74 km and now the construction is 100% completed.
HE Touch Chankosal, Permanent Secretary of State, expressed his deep gratitude to all development partners and relevant units who has attended as a witness in the occasion of the handover of National Road No. 5 in the above project and call on all relevant units to continue to protect and maintain the national achievements that have just been achieved, especially people to respect the law.
