Phnom Penh Authority pledges to control the Outbreak of Covid-19 in Factory areas
Phnom Penh (MGO) – Phnom Penh Capital Authority has pledged to organize the plan on measures to control the spread of Covid-19 disease in factories and enterprises in Phnom Penh to ensure the well-being, safety and livelihood of employees and the production of factories.
On Thursday, June 10, 2021, HE Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, held a video conference with representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and the Ministry of Economy and Finance at Phnom Penh Capital Hall.
In the meeting His Excellency stated that the preparation of this plan is in order to ensure the well-being, safety and livelihood of workers and employees as well as the sustainability of production of factories in Phnom Penh by defining the necessary measures in three stages:
First: To control and prevent the spread of Covid-19 disease in factories.
Second: The Medium-term measures to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19 disease in factories.
Third: Long-term measures to control the spread of Covid-19 disease in factories.
HE. added that the establishment of a meeting with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and the Ministry of Economy and Finance is to ensure that the plan is accurate in implementation and comprehensive to implement the goals.The plan also highlighted that Phnom Penh is the heart of the Kingdom of Cambodia, a hub for all sectors, including politics, economy, society, heritage, culture, tourism and diplomacy, depending on geographical factors, infrastructure, labor and public administration services, factories and enterprices about 60% is located in Phnom Penh.
Despite the status of the Covid-19 epidemic, almost all of the factory-business activities remained normal and only a few factories were shut down.As of the first quarter of 2021, there were 746 factories in Phnom Penh and 4,985 small-scale industries and handicrafts created 476,359 direct jobs and hundreds of thousands indirectly job and recently, the Phnom Penh Municipal Investment Sub-Committee has finally registered 34 more investment factories.
