In Kandal province, 140 secondary and high schools have reopened

Kandal - On the morning of September 15th, 2021, H.E. Kong Sophorn participated in the reopening of schools across Kandal province with the presence of officials from the Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport, teachers and students, 

 

H.E. Kong Sophorn, Governor of Kandal, said that by following the instructions of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the provincial administration has evaluated and decided to open the first phase of public schools in Kandal province for secondary and high school students from grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 which are qualified adequately in accordance with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) from September 15th, 2021 onwards.

 

 

H.E. Kong Sophorn continued, "the provincial administration has examined the qualifications in accordance with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), there are 140 schools that are open, which are 101 secondary schools, and 39 high schools."

 

The Provincial Governor also instructed the Department of Education, Youth, and Sport, as well as relevant departments, local governments, and leaders of public educational institutions, to improve health and safety in education in order to help with risk reduction, prevention, and control of Covid-19 spread.

 

At all school sites, including desks and chairs in the classroom, there should be a personal safety space of at least one and a half meters and continue to strictly implement health regulations and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport's Standard Operating Procedures, particularly the Prime Minister of Cambodia's highly recommended "three dos and three don'ts" instructions to avoid the spread of this fatal disease.

 

Mr. Cheng Sam Ol, Director of Kandal Province's Department of Education, Youth, and Sport, stated that for secondary and high school students in grades 9 to 12, who are ready in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) from September 15th, 2021, divided into 15 students per class, with a total of 39, 994 students across the province.
