Disney's crime comedy "Cruella" tops Chinese box office
BEIJING - Disney's crime comedy film "Cruella" continued to lead the Chinese box office chart on Thursday, according to the China Movie Data Information Network.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, "Cruella" follows a young grifter named Estella, as she explores the path that will lead her to become a notorious up-and-coming fashion designer known as Cruella de Vil.
The film pocketed in around 7.17 million yuan (1.12 million U.S. dollars) on Thursday, the fifth day of its screening. "F9: The Fast Saga," the latest installment in the Fast and Furious action franchise, came in second, finishing the day with 6.98 million yuan in revenue. Sci-fi horror film "A Quiet Place Part II" ranked third on the daily chart, grossing 4.85 million yuan.
