Carrots in Mondulkiri have a good market

Carrots in Mondulkiri have a good market

(MGO) - Carrots of farmers in Mondulkiri are in good demand, while carrots are one of the most popular vegetables. Mr. Kry Meng Chheang, a farmer living in Chamkar Te village, Spean Meanchey commune, Sen Monorom City, said that his farm of carrots is about 1.5 hectares, which can harvest about 10 to 15 tons per season.

He said that the carrots that he grows in Mondulkiri are delicious without the use of chemical fertilizers, especially it is a crop that has many benefits for the health of consumers because carrots help maintain blood sugar balance, help the eyes, help maintain weight, reduce the risk of cancer, help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease, help the immune system and also as a supplement.

He added that the carrots can be sold at a price of 6,000 riels per kilogram, and for the export market in Phnom Penh, as well as other companies to buy from him to supply in supermarkets as well as some natural vegetable shops.

As for the carrot crop, it can be grown in any district or province, except that in the rainy season it can give less yield and the tubers are not as long as in the dry month. Speaking of carrots, I do not think any land can grow because the first he has never planted, and second he does not know how to use fertilizer and Mondulkiri does not yet have any growers, so I just learn and ask or contact the Department of Agriculture, they have the experience, so we can easily take it from them to experiment and study for ourselves, and on the other hand, in the province, there are no people who know how to grow, so we grow it first because the market is good and the price is also high.

He also stated that carrots can be harvested every three months and can be grown in all seasons, whether dry or wet and that this plantation is planted in rotation for harvest once a week by the yield of about 300 kg.
